Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance at the Accomac, VA complex.
This includes all industrial activity along with current and future federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and permits.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of all environmental program areas at the complex.
- Conduct environmental inspections and assist in performing required environmental training.
- Compile and track all data necessary for environmental sustainability initiatives.
- File and manage environmental records (electronic and hard copy) for regulatory compliance.
- Maintain lab technician certification per state requirements (on-going DOCs/PTs) and assist in the state-certified environmental laboratory as necessary.
- Train, understand, and gain the knowledge to operate the wastewater and potable water systems at the complex.
- Assist the environmental manager in other assigned duties as necessary.
Minimum Education
B.
S.
degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or other closely related field.
Must acquire appropriate environmental training (Hazardous Waste Management/DOT Compliance) within 6 months of accepting this position.
Must acquire a wastewater works operator license through Virginia s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation within 2 years of accepting this position.
Must acquire a water works operator license through Virginia s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation within 3 years of accepting this position.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- The work environment includes but is not limited to an office, a poultry harvest facility, and a wastewater treatment plant.
- When in a poultry harvest facility or a wastewater treatment plant:
- Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 100 F with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product 25 50 F.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 110 dB.
- May be exposed to all chemicals found in poultry, food, processing, and wastewater plants.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job and as directed by the Company.
- Outside walking in all weather conditions.
- Travel throughout the complex and to other facilities as needed.
The ability to climb ladders and lift loads up to 50 pounds.
